Product Description

The SICK VL180-2P42436 is a compact cylindrical photoelectric retro-reflective sensor designed for reliable object detection in industrial automation and material-handling applications. It uses a dual-lens optical system with a reflector to detect objects accurately over distances of up to 6 m, with a maximum sensing range of 7 m when used with the specified reflector.

The sensor uses visible red LED light with a 645 nm wavelength, making alignment and installation convenient. Its sensitivity can be adjusted through a 270° potentiometer, allowing the sensor to be adapted to different detection conditions. The sensor's axial optical arrangement and compact M18 × 1 cylindrical housing make it suitable for installation where space is limited.

The VL180-2P42436 provides a PNP switching output and supports both light and dark switching modes. It operates from a 10–30 V DC supply and offers a fast response time of up to 0.5 ms with a switching frequency of 1,000 Hz, making it suitable for high-speed object detection and counting.

For reliable operation in industrial environments, the sensor features IP67 protection, a robust cylindrical housing, reverse-polarity protection and short-circuit/overcurrent protection. It is supplied with a P250 reflector and two fastening nuts, simplifying installation.

The VL180-2P42436 is well suited for conveyor systems, packaging machines, product detection, material handling, object counting and general machine automation where dependable and fast photoelectric detection is required.
