PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SICK IME08 is a compact Inductive Proximity Sensor designed for reliable, non-contact detection of metal objects in industrial automation applications.
The IME08 series features a compact M8 × 1 cylindrical housing and is suitable for applications where installation space is limited. Inductive sensing technology allows the sensor to detect metal targets without physical contact, helping to reduce mechanical wear and improve machine

reliability.
For example, SICK IME08-02BPSZW2S has a 2 mm nominal sensing range, flush installation, PNP output, Normally Open (NO) switching function, 10–30 V DC supply, 3-wire, 2 m cable and IP67 enclosure rating. Its switching frequency is up to 4,000 Hz.
How SICK IME08 Works
Power Supply → Electromagnetic Field → Metal Object Detected → Output Switches ON → PLC/Controller Receives Signal
When a metal object comes within the sensing range, it disturbs the sensor's electromagnetic field. The internal electronics detect this change and switch the output signal.

APPLICATION
SICK IME08 inductive sensors are commonly used for metal detection, position sensing and machine automation.
1. Position Detection
Detects whether a metal machine component has reached its required position.
2. Presence Detection
Detects whether a metal component is present or absent.
3. End Position Detection
Used to detect the end position of moving machine parts, slides and pneumatic mechanisms.
4. Conveyor Systems
The sensor can detect metal components moving on a conveyor and provide a signal to the PLC.
5. Counting of Metal Parts
Each passing metal component can generate a switching signal that can be counted by the control system.
6. Machine Automation
Used for feedback and status detection in automated machinery.
7. Manufacturing & Assembly Machines
Useful for detecting metal components during assembly, feeding and positioning processes.
